Based in the Okanagan Valley in beautiful Summerland, British Columbia, Canada - my passion for woodturning has been a natural evolution from my formal training in Fine Arts. Since my retirement in 2002, I have been turning full time. My extensive travels throughout Canada, Africa, the U.S., the Caribbean and South America greatly influenced my woodwork. My other interests are photography and guitar.

Most of my pieces are turned from locally fallen trees (either from disease or property hazard issues.) I turn only hardwoods — not indigenous to the Okanagan Valley — usually trees that were originally planted as landscape ornamentals. A mature tree may yield up to 40 or 50 pieces, depending on its size and integrity. Each bowl blank is then slabbed, roughed out and stored for three months, before its final shaping, turning and finishing.  Each piece comes with documented provenance. (In most cases I am able to ascertain origin and date planted.)

Have something else in mind? I can also turn custom bowls of a specific size and design.
